Putting this down for a while - it's a slow progress book but after an abrupt, moderately graphic and (imo) unnecessary description of the death of the family dog this just isn't what I need to be reading right now.

This is going to be a slow read... I love the story and the history, but the writing style is so hard to wrap my head around.

Really struggling to get into this. I want to like it so much but I'm just finding the writing style so stilted.
