I love the couples in this book so much bc you have these m/f couples w men who want to become better people for the women they love, who want to change and grow and devote themselves, and they don’t want anything in return they simply want to be worthy (it’s the mr darcy effect)

and then there’s jesper and wylan who are just stupid

also im writing notes to be able to actually explain the ice court heist

Nina and Matthias are growing on me, I think I like them more than I did in my last read

+ Annotating really makes this book so much easier to read. I struggled through it last time but now it’s very easy and refreshing since I can comment and underline and tab

Man this book is just really well written. The changing POV doesn’t distract from the story and we get such a rich glimpse into each character’s perspectives and diverse voices. Also the stuff that happens is insane. Considering how much I talk abt this book and the show it’s surprising this is only my second read ever of this book lol

Tryna reread this before season two starts

Wasn't expecting Matthias' double-double crossing but I KNEW he wasn't gonna betray the crows like that.

I can't believe there's another kid to adopt-I mean recruit-

Jesper and Wylan are bicons can they date each other and also me but mostly each other

I can't believe Kaz is really down bad for Inej

Part 5! My goodness, this was just Backstory Central. Inej, oh my beautiful Inej. The writing style as she was climbing the rope just hurt me so bad. But what I think was most fascinating was seeing Kaz's weaknesses. I mean, throughout the book he's seen as this brilliant ruthless leader who doesn't seem to have many emotions. But here it shows that he has some weaknesses and HOW he came to have them. Very nice.

Ok but why is Kaz so hopeless, sweetheart...He basically went "Oh I care about Inej so much. I think I'll tell her she means nothing to me." DUDE.
What I'm also seeing is that the S&B show did Nina and Matthias very accurately which I LOVE. Yes, Nina, corrupt the man. Do it. It's so funny.

I made it to pt 3 and I'd like to emphasize ships in the group. The dynamics are very interesting. Kaz's brutal protectiveness towards Inej ("Matthias suspected that Brekker would drag the girl back from hell himself if he had to.") The enemies-to-lovers-to-enemies again of Matthias and Nina (I'm LOVING the way they're so conflicted), and the playful teasing of Jesper and Wylan (I've been fed flirty Jesper FINALLY)
