Elara reminds me of Cersei Lannister in that she has less power systemically and her husband calls the shots officially, but she socially is a mastermind and a manipulator and I think at some point in the future she’ll be calling the shots.

And my instinct to not trust Maven was right too!! He had me so almost fooled by the end but I had a feeling the 4 names he gave were people he wanted killed for his own agenda. He had me mostly fooled though.

I love Maven!!!! I wish there was a bit more buildup between him and Mare before he kissed her but I also love the confusion it’s causing. I’m scarred from so many betrayal books so I don’t trust Maven yet, but I hope he’s good. Cal is pissing me right off though he can kick rocks. He’s so righteous about his cause and reminds me of Chaol in the way that he doesn’t see the world as in need of change.

I love Maven so far, he seems like a good person and at least seems to care about Mare being safe. I feel like Elara is a genius and the mastermind behind everything. I feel like Cal is going to have some plot twist, he’s going to turn out morally grey somehow.
