Admittedly, I'm not loving it so far. I think that's largely down to the writing style; third person present tense is a hard one to pull off well imo. There's also a lot of tell and not so much show so far, which I'm never a fan of.
I remain hopeful that it will win me over yet (or at least reach a 4-star rating rather than the 3 it's currently holding)

the many unexplained acronyms are really a thing!!
For a good use of third-person-present-tense, and a lot of weird goings on, try "The City We Became" by N.K. Jemisin. It took me a few chapters to get into it, but once I did I really liked it. I have the sequel on my "to be read" shelf. I'll get to it soon.
