Mark Schnell 700 pages? That seems like a lot, to be sure, but how else to track the Firebird? How else to witness, if only in the imagination, the Infernal Dance of King Kashtey? Those fairy tales are sure to take you across steppe and forest, with many verses of versts through thrice nine lands to the thrice tenth kingdom! The ghosts of Ilya Murometz, Alyosha Popovich and Nikita the Tanner are sure to beckon you on!

(Actually, if you are in the mood for some rousing good Russian tales, have you ever tried Lermontov's A Hero of Our Time, or Bulgakov's The White Guard?)

Stephen I think this is one is pretty exhaustive so you have some really good ones mixed in with sing-song nursery rhyme types. I haven't hit the ones you mentioned yet, but there has been a Baba Yaga sighting!

Mark Schnell psa krew cholera! (That's Polish, not Russian, but a baba yaga is bad news no matter what the native tongue! (Please excuse the profanity.)
