During the year when Mary Alice is 9 and Joey is 11, they visit their Grandma Dowdel again. They just found out that she works for a really old lady who is named Aunt Puss Chapman. She makes Grandma clean the kitchen and cook. Also, she's the only one in the town who can control Grandma Dowdel.

Joey and Mary Alice are in their 3rd summer of the Great Depression at their grandma's. A couple boys who deliver the milk tried to break into Grandma Dowdel's house, but she caught them. They also went fishing in a place they weren't supposed to fish in. I can't wait to see what more adventures are coming down the road for them!
