Bone witches, a type of asha, is the type of witch she is, and is outcasted from her society. An older bone witch, Mykaela comes to take her and teach her the ways of the bone witch.

Tea goes off with Polaire and Zoya to find the dragon-like daeva. It had killed 20 Deathseekers, a massive amount of casualties in their terms. Tea disobeyed the council by going; however, she can feel it in the water and believes she can control it.

Mistress Parimma allows Tea to begin her Asha training after Tea accidently resurrected a cemetary, along with an old king who was mysteriously killed and never found. She begins lessons in the arts and fighting, and her familiar, or her brother Fox, joins the Kion army. She gets three new teachers, along with Mykaela to help her become an asha and master her Dark abilities.
