Darren Shan is now a vampire prince and is searching for the Vampaneze lord in Mr. Crespley's home town. when he arrives there they're greeted by a social worker who received school enrollment papers for Darren (even though they do not know who submitted them) they believe the Vampaneze set up a trap for Darren but Darren is forced to go to school due to the social worker involving the police.
