I hate the poem The Sentence. I hate how it sounds rhythmically, and I don't like how it all flows together. I hate this poem because I don't understand its theme. The three stanzas all seem very different, and even though I've read it several times I don't get the point. In the author's note, it says that this poem spoke to veterans, so maybe I don't understand because I don't have the experiences they have.

A poem that has influenced me in this book is Will, lost in a sea of trouble. I like the way it sounds rhythmically, and I also like the messages it conveys. I have had to re-read it several times to get a meaning out of it. To me it says be courageous, but don't make a big deal out of everything. Instead, keep your smaller victories hidden and adapt to the situations you encounter instead of complaining.
