Jeannette's parents are the main cause of her conflicts in life. Since her parents aren't necessarily the best, Jeannette has to deal with a lot of problems on her own. For instance, Lori, who is Jeannette's sister, did not have the best eye sight, only until Lori was 10 years old. Lori never knew glasses helped her see better, and Lori never knew her eyes didn't work as well as other people's.

The scene's in my book that I don't like all come from what the father is saying and/or doing. Especially, the specific times where he is expressing his opinion at the wrong times. Or, when his children didn't understand yet that their father should not be saying these things about other people or anything in general. His fathering ways are so wrong, the children think that what he does it acceptable.

The supporting characters, Lori and Brian, who are Jeannette's siblings play a big role in Jeannette's decisions. For example, when Jeannette was about to get into a fight with girls from her school, Brian and Jeannette came up with a plan so that they wouldn't get hurt that much, and then the girls wouldn't come back to pick on Jeannette.
