“…who sank onto the weapon’s edge like an orange sliding down a knitting needle.” I really don’t like similes like this. Goes for metaphors, too. While I can absolutely envision this, it doesn’t make sense because it’s something that doesn’t happen. Know what I mean?

This whole “Vonvalt only has a week to live” thing is so anticlimactic because this is the second book in the trilogy and he’s the main character. He’s not dying. Unless Swan does some magic and DOES kill him off and the overall plot is the better for it.

Ngl…I’m kinda bored to tears. This book is definitely suffering from middle book syndrome. There’s more magic, which is cool, but too many factions and a stupid kidnapping. The politics and factions aren’t interesting enough to keep my attention.
