Three chapters on individual sectors (extractive, garments & food) form the middle of the book. Excellent for the global level of their analyis they provide brief, readable accounts of developments in each sector during the Neo-liberal period in general with particular focus on developments in the 21st century.

Solid analysis of the inherent weaknesses of Corporate Social Responsibility movement and the way in which trans national corporations have infiltrated the U.N. undermining efforts for obligatory rules in favour of cosy chats with all stakeholders and voluntary codes (could you imagine these companies having voluntary codes of conduct vis a vis their employees or suppliers instead of legally binding contracts?)
