Dr. Tyson was one of my very favorite professors at Houghton, and he had a gift with telling history through biography. So I'm glad to finally be getting to this book on one of the more interesting personalities in the 18th Century Church and in the Great Awakening. Great so far!

The chapter on persecution was amazing. This was not the "good old days" of Christianity people imagine. stonings, battery, literally tearing a house apart to get at the Methodists who were praying there.
