Good though not great, I think. Bourgeois i.e. middle class in its sensibilities concerning a novel set in World War II and delivers the expected homily. Does possess a nice lyric quality in the prose, perhaps a little forced at times but not overwhelming. A decent one-time read but nothing that inspires a return to the narrative.
