Based on what I've seen and read so far, as well as based on the film, this book is simply a large message of independence and a huge "screw-you" message to society and their circumstances and expectations.

Tyler Durden's powerful attitude and demanding personality definitely has an impact on the control he has over people, especially in Fight Club. Tyler is a mastermind. A sick, twisted, villain of a sort? However, he has power. And his power is what is leading to his success.

I don't think that there was a specific, message, per say for this book, but instead I find it more of a reality check of the flaws that drag us back in life and the realization, quoting the book, that "This is your life. And it's ending one minute at a time." Through Project Mayhem and the anarchy of Tyler Durden, I learn that we're not the money we have or what we accomplish, we're all the same, in the end.

The narrator in this book is an insomniac and a victim of consumerism. When he comes across Tyler Durden, a jaded, mysterious man who later becomes a best friend of the narrator, gathers men in basements of bars to compete in skin-to-skin combat, and later plan to diminish the cities largest building, thus, Project Mayhem was born.

The lesson that I got out of this book as well as the movie for this story is the method of deception and the role of feminization in current American culture against men and their perceptions of the life they are designed to live. The roles of men in this film are played stereotypically in a genius film that protrays genetically inclined views of the public, which truly opens my eyes in this generation.
