I have started the BBC miniseries with Paul Dano and I have done a 180 on War & Peace. The show is sooooooooo good.

I'm at the point where I am doing micro-updates to, what, keep myself going? To say I have plateaued with War & Peace is an understatement. To say that I put it on and half pay attention to it while I play Marvel Snap is more accurate. Somewhere in there I pull up the SparkNotes for the first time since college and figure out what is going on.

Really hitting a wall with this but at this point sink cost fallacy has taken over. The thing is, the stuff about fancypants Russian society is fine, lots of names and sometimes hard to follow but fine. The war stuff though, now that’s some of the most tedious stuff I have ever read.

HALFWAY THROUGH this book that is decidedly not for me. But I will abide by the rules of sunk cost fallacy and slog through the rest on principle.

What’s most interesting about this book is how GOOD LORD IT IS SO LONG. Like you can really FEEL how long it is. Like I read all the Game of Thrones books and I’m 1/5 through this and I feel like I’m reading in slow motion. I’m getting better with all the Russian names, and the motivations of the wide swath of characters, but this is tough sledding for me (not Ulysses tough tho, thank god).

It's just SO. MANY. RUSSIAN NAMES I CAN'T KEEP TRACK OF. That's the only thing that's hard.
