Achack is really lucky. First he finds William K., who eventually dies, and then he finds Moses. I don't think ant of the other lost boys were lucky enough to find both of their childhood friends

I wonder if Phil Mays(Achack's sponsor) went through something similar to what Achack went through, because he seemed so moved by his story that he actually began to cry. I don't anybody besides those who have experienced it can fully understand what Achack went through, so either Phil Mays did go thfough something similar or he is an extremely sensitive person.

I am really surprised to learn that one of the tallest players in the NBA at the time was a Dinka from Sudan. How did he get to America when the rebellion was going on, how did he learn Basketball?

the description of the faceless man the Achak meets is so gruesome yet so realistic. As if I could really see a man like that.

I wonder why the rebels left Mirai Bai. All the soldiers there had deserted so the town could be like a place of refuge.

When dave began to talk about how he traveled with a group of boys since their home was destroyed, it reminded me about A Long Way Gone. How they were subject to many dangers such as patrolling soldiers and wild animals, it makes their stories very similar.

I have not read this book in while because of the book club book I am reading, but from what I remember I thought Dave's inner thinking was very strange. When a lot of things were being stolen and he was all tied up it seemed as if he didn't really mind or as if he expected it to happen someday.
