I kinda liked this. I thought Patton Walsh did a good job capturing Sayers' voice.

Good to hear that. I'm only at the very beginning, but it seems to be good.

Actually, I wanted to start with her continuation of Thrones, Dominations, but read this one instead as it is the one that's immediately available. Do I need to read that first to understand this one?

Have you read the earlier Wimsey stories?

I didn't like Thrones as much (or even very much at all). It was very dark and strange. It almost felt like a "stand alone", so I don't think it matters much, really. Presumption feels much more like a sequel to Busman's Honeymoon, so if you haven't read that one you won't understand much.

ETA: and there's a tie in with Gaudy Night too...

Great. I've read lots of Wimseys, including Gaudy and Busman (my faves). I hope this one is worthy of them!

Now I'm curious about Thrones --- why is it "dark and strange"?

It's about a vain and stupid woman (the victim) and her slimy husband; they have a very strange relationship which is spelled out a little too much for my taste. It was so unlike Sayers' usual writing, which usually has a lot of humor underneath it all.
