I honestly don't see why he had to bring God into it, unless he was religious himself and wanted to find a place for God in particle physics/cosmology.
And the whole "weak anthropic principle" confuses me deeply, cos it just sounds like code for "God did it". Either that, or it's stupid circular BS logic.
