Realized out of the three RLS books I've read, I liked the first one, severely disliked the second and DNFed the third. Not a great track record.

DNFing at this point. Need something that isn't this or a romance.

Major trigger warnings for drug addiction/older brother addict/relapse and rehab

This part with Lucy is my favorite part of the book so far. I like the way this relationship has redeveloped and unfolded. I like that there is more to her than Barrett originally thought. People are like that IRL.
Also the "We weren't our best selves in highschool." Oophf. My heart.

It feels like RLS realized we needed romantic development for the MCs and made a pivot from the rest of the plot to make that happen. Not the smoothest transition.
Also feel like I would like this book a lot more as a movie or short for some reason. Just feel like it would work really well.

Dearest Author, the more you have the main character mention how much this reminds them of a movie, the more I feel like this will be nothing new and I should stop now.

Yeah so the manipulation/revenge/PTSD plot is going to keep being a big deal. Going to add it as a TW in my review. If it makes me sad and angry then I can't imagine so many who have experienced something like this. May be a pass for them.
