It hadn’t been there this morning when Gia had helped her get dressed." This might be a nitpick, but since when do nine year-olds need help getting dressed? It's weird.

I'm not superstitious, but if I had lived through even half the shit Jack has, I'd avoid the following places: Stonehenge, Native American burial grounds, the Vatican (just in case), haunted houses/forests, the Great pyramids, Mordor. And, oh yeah, the Bermuda triangle.
