"He tore his eyes away from the tops of those remarkable breasts of hers and tried to think unpleasant thoughts of particularly horrible things, like overcooked vegetables and cut-rate wine" (Carriger 166). Oh, how I absolutely adore Ms. Carriger's tongue-in-cheek sense of humor! I laughed out loud in the middle of the coffee shop when I read this line! She has the most amazing way with quirky juxtapositions :)

Nothing like a 2.5hr drive home from a conference to enjoy a sizable chunk of this audiobook. I do adore this book, so much! Never thought I’d wish for a longer drive, but with 1.75 hrs left in the book, I secretly wish to keep driving.

Gotta love long drives to make a solid 2hr dent in this glorious audiobook. I adore Alexia more than words!

Gawd...how I love this series! Alexia is my spirit animal - how I dream to transport myself into her fictional shoes!

Loving this! Again! This being Carriger’s 1st book, I worried that this 1st effort would not hold up to the ones she wrote later, which are sublime. But it absolutely does! Absolutely fabulous! And I had completely forgotten the mystery element, so I’m enjoying the curiousness of it all!

Rereading this for the Read Along 2019, but listening to the audiobook this time. I get to p. 2 and I’m jarred out of my headphones by the narrator’s pronunciation of Lord “A-kíl-dema” Whoa! Like biting into a lemon thinking I was getting an orange! Makes my eye twinge. Keep calm, and carry on, Lica!

Lord Akeldama's view on life: "Information: reason for living. Well, that and fashion" (Carriger 220). He is an hilarious character.
