Ngl so far it's not as funny as I had hoped. It's actually really grating imagining how poncey and pretentiously english the writers social circle must have been. It had better get really disgustingly bawdy very soon to counterbalance the annoying sense that the English think they're really rascally and clever but in reality the style is unnecessarily verbose and very tame
