I am still on page 30 of this book. I think it is a bit strange when the narrator says that it is harder for a soldier to return home because technology blends the battlefield with home. I don't really get this quote because if a soldier going into battle can communicate with home, I think it will be easier for the soldier to assimmilate into his normal life. This is because he will be able to contact his family.

I haven't read very much and am still on page 68. One significant quote is, "War is society's dirty work, usually done by kids cleaning up failures perpetrated by adults." I think this is significant because the "adults" are political leaders and the "children" are the soldiers being sent to die. The political leaders are adults because they cause the trouble, while the soldiers have to finish the trouble.

I am currently on page 30, chapter 2 in this book. The best character so far is probably Karl Marlantes. One other character gets beat up picking a fight at a bar. Karl Marlantes tries to keep his men safe and helps defend the U.S. from communist threats.
