I think it’s important to note that this book is neither excuse nor condemnation of slavery. It has so explained the laws in the Shari’ah and the practice of slavery in reality (both good and bad). I think it’s also important to keep an open mind while reading this remembering that we now live in very different times. Slavery was a pre Islamic practice, Islam is a religion for all times.
