And all the anti-natalism in the world won't obscure the fact that "MEN BAD" seems to be the entire point of this book.

Maybe T. Kingfisher just isn't for me? Contextually i understand the relentless "EVERY MALE IS BAD! ALLLLLL MEN ARE BAD!!!! BAD MEN BAD MEN BAD MEN!!!!!" but I have no reason to believe that it IS actually just context (ie: seeing from the protagonist's point of view) given that there was that weird 4th-wall-breaking aside about the protagonist coming to a conclusion centuries before later gender-political theorists.
