Finished the book and wondered what all the fuss was about. Yes, it was a different sort of war book and yes one wanted the patient to survive, against all odds, but I did not really empathise with Hana, the nurse. Despite this, I found the complex plot intriguing and as always with an account of war, I questioned why on earth one would fight.
