This part almost felt like it was written by a super advanced book-writing AI, it's very mechanically written, descriptions, plot, everything. Picture perfect and freaky. Like Rabbit Run or some King or Vonnegut books.

Book 1: Occasionally pretty, occasionally funny; not boring but not interesting. I think it makes me feel sad, but I don't know why, which would please Bolaño. Would not have worked at all as a standalone novel, very much felt like a short story that happened to take a few hours to read.
