I said in my last post I don't really read this book in order because it's made up of a bunch of mini stories. Once section that I found particularly interesting was one on page 77, a passage from Bontemps-Hughes discussing how slaves were 'nameless.' This was an interesting concept for me to debate as I often think of names holding significance to an individual. Distinguishes such as these are small but powerful.

I decided to switch it up because I like change and it's Black History Month. To be honest when I read this book I jump reading different sections and look at the pictures. The graphic descriptions and words never fail to make me grateful for all that I have. Sometimes it's good to read a story like,'the auction block' (39) to put life in perspective. Hopefully I can read these two books separately at one time :)
