It's so interesting to read about the day to day life in a prison camp and the small joys and big terrible things that happen there. I truely love the writing, but it's so horrible what this man has gone through, and he had it relatively good (as far as 'good' is in a gulag)

Dolgun writes in a way which doesn't only make you feel bad for him all the time, but it's more like some inspirational tale of a man surviving bad, worse and worst. I obviously still feel bad for him, none of this should have happend. But wow, is it a breathtaking autobiography.

It's unbelievable how awfully the Sovjet Union treated those who lived there and how many of those monsters went unpunished.
