It's a shame that in a job like this, or any job for that matter, that you have to deal with people like this. They should be in the back somewhere in a little hole doing their thing. But the truth is, I truly feel sorry for this technician. She is living a half-life. Since she is giving out no joy, she is receiving joy. A sad vicious circle.

Non-Pittsburghers may find the breakdown of heritage unusual. In the greater Pittsburgh area and maybe Philadelphia, it is standard. And when I was a child, way back in the 50s and 60s, the first thing one would do upon hearing someone's last name would question the heritage.
