the DESCRIPTIONS!! the way the descriptions make me feel like i’m watching a movie… i love how on the surface the stories are just in depth descriptions of interactions that probably last 30 minutes at most… but you’re already attached to the characters and can derive meaning from something that is traditionally a boring everyday interaction

the first story i had read separately and liked before buying the book… but after reading “uncle wiggly in connecticut” i am reminded how much i like salingers writing style and i’m impressed by how well he can develop characters in so little time. and somehow how he can very subtly create a specific vibe 💢💢 escapist literature fr
