I like it so far, but I’m not sure if I’m in the mood for Joe Abercrombie right now, especially since I don’t have a strong connection to any of the characters in this semi-standalone. Also, after reading The Dandelion Dynasty, Abercrombie’s world just seems so constricted and excessively interconnected.

Putting this one on hold for now. Just not quite what I'm looking for at the moment, and the lack of familiar characters from the trilogy means there isn't a strong draw to push until I get hooked.
