Why is nothing happening in this book? It's just Miles going on about how much he wants to do it with Alaska which is really booooring to read.

I'm sorry, but why do I feel like I'm reading a book full nothing but Ethan Waite clones? Seriously, the constant mentions of loving to read/name-dropping famous authors is a trope of YA that has always bugged me, as if that would make up for how bland/irksome characters are. What do they want me to say? Congratulations, you know who Gabriel Garcia Marquez is. You know who cares? NOT ME THAT'S WHO.
