The reading is still tough, but since the book seems to include an historically accurate account of the 17th century English Civil War, I did order a nonfiction book about it.

Finally! There are 4 more books in this 'Quintet.' I can't imagine why anyone would want to read them though. Author Mary has a obsession with sperm it seems. I guess she wished she could produce it. "I'm gonna write like they spoke 400 years ago and you're gonna read it because I'm gonna get awards."

Took up about 40 pages with Johnny Church pondering about his life as he and Thankful were locked up in some lady's attic hiding from Cromwell's troops. Way, way to much thinking going on in this book. And 'thinking' written in the English language of 3 centuries ago. Boring.

Just trudging along in this Book #1 of 5. The historical mentions are interesting and make me want to read more of English history from the 17th century. While this tome, with its 50 pages between chapters and fixation on sex makes me sorry I bought it and am now reading it. Although, I must admit, it's not awful.

I abandoned the 10-page intro which included reviews of all of author Settle's books in her 'Quintet' series, since I'm certain for me, this single volume will suffice. She has weird ideas what boys do: Johnny Church ~ "...and let the warm sun caress our cods [scrotums] to sweet release, and left our sinning in the stream among the trout and proudly watched them rise to our seed." Great! fishing with sperm.
