To further my liking of Marvin, he had tried to talk with the ship about how he felt and what his views on the universe was. Needless to say the ship committed suicide. How this happened, I don't know. But Marvin has some serious issues.

Everyone made the mice seem like such wise and knowledgeable creatures, which is true, but they didn't tell you that they want to cut out and dissect your brain until you're being chased by an army horde of aliens.

Since no one understood the meaning of 42, the computer made another, greater than itself, to give the people the answers they wanted. This computer would we known as Earth

After seven and a half million years the second greatest computer gave us the answer to every single question in the universe....42. Fun Fact: if you separate 4 and 2 and make them different numbers, then translate them into Japanese shi and ni. Then put the words together shini, it means death (shini-gami: god of death). So knowing that, the answer to life, the universe, everything,.... Is death.

The mice did come back into the story. Earth was paid for and run by mice. The mice- who appear as cheese loving rodents- had been experimenting on humans, hence why Earth was created.

Chapter 23 tells of the three most intelligent life forms on Earth (each moving from smartest to dumbest): mice, dolphins, and humans. Before they had mentioned that two mice were missing from the ship and have not been found. I'm predicting that these two factor will come together in a little bit.

When Arthur met the old man on the "dead" planet they crashed on, I fist thought he would sound wise by the way the author described his appearance and attire. But as soon as he started talking, he sounded more like a cars salesman.

One interesting quote I found, "He had an odd feeling of being like a man in the act of adultery who is surprised when the woman's husband wanders into the room, changes his trousers, passes a few idle remarks about the weather and leaves again." I couldn't think of a better way to put the current situation into words other than that.
