The story is REALLY good, but the writing is... well, reeeeeally not for me. I'm having flashbacks to all the horrible metaphors in ALL THAT GLOWS. -_- (And not the good kind of bad metaphors either, STEELHEART fans.)

It kills me that this is all in 1st person. You can’t tell me all of these characters actually *think* like this. The only difference I can see in their narration is that Dai swears more often than Jin, and Mei Yee loves metaphors more than any of them.

I swear, if this book had fewer metaphors, it would be REALLY good. But wanting to bang my head against the wall every 2-3 pages is not a fun experience.

The metaphors in this are driving me up the wall (haha, get it, Walled City? up the wall?), but for some reason I still want to find out what happens. And each character's POV sounds basically exactly the same - I wish it'd been written in third person. But at least the characters themselves aren't as bad as they were in All That Glows.
