Maybe you can make a 'tag cloud' out of the book, and see how big the word 'rape' is.

Another one of the book that i didn't finish during my infamous reading period of 08-09 when i started about 40 books and only finished 1. Personally I felt the bleak and dark tone of the book was a gimmick arranged as a compensation for boring characters and cliched setting. But like i said,i did give up on a lot of good novels during that time, so i might check it out again depending on your review.
