'tis less to be wonder'd at that Women Marry off in hast, for perhaps if they took time to consider and reflect upon it, they seldom wou'd.

She's so bitter! I love her!

It were ridiculous to suppose that a Woman, were she ever so much improv'd, cou'd come near the topping Genius of the Men, and therefore why shou'd they envy or discourage her? Strength of Mind goes along with Strength of Body, and 'tis only for some odd accidents which Philosophers have not yet thought worth while to enquire into, that the Sturdiest Porter is not the Wisest Man.

I misread! Sarcasm FTW!

She's using this as an argument that women can never be the equals of men, because they're all buff and swole and we're just all swooning all the time. (sigh)

Of course, if strength of body really did determine strength of mind, elephants would rule the world. And that would be cool.

None of GOD's Creatures absolutely consider'd are in their own Nature Contemptible; the meanest Fly, the poorest Insect has its Use and Vertue.

True; but I'm still looking for a good reason for the tapeworm...

But how can a Man respect his Wife when he has a contemptible Opinion of her and her Sex? When from his own Elevation he looks down on them as void of Understanding, and full of Ignorance and Passion, so that Folly and a Woman are equivalent Terms with him?

Testify!

If none were to Marry, but Men of strict Vertue and Honour, I doubt [fear] the World would be but thinly peopled.

Right???

Nothing can justify the revenging the Injuries we receive from others, upon our selves: The Italian Proverb shews a much better way; Vuoi far vendetta del tuo nemico governati bene. If you would be reveng'd of your Enemies, live well.

So now you know where that old phrase about living well being the best revenge comes from: Italy. Which is also where we got the concept of the vendetta.
