This is a marvelously written and constructed book with three plot lines that grab you from the beginning. Hollis the father is a self absorbed, faux intellectual alcoholic with an insecure wife, David the son is a self important high school teacher with no one to impress but his students and Tilly is a rudderless, unprincipled starlet. They are all headed for disaster in the proverbial handcart.
