You can't go wrong with unique blue eyes, ambiguous morality (and sexuality), unclear motivation, and propensity for disguise.

Very nice so far.

The atmosphere reminded me so much of Megan Derr's Sandstorm that I had to pause this to reread it. :D I'm not complaining.
Also the prologue and the short sentences reminded me of how C.S. Pacat said she was writing Damen when he was trying very hard not to think about something. Not sure if the Bulgarian translation enhanced the effect or not.
