After 107 pages I am not impressed with Michael Chabon. I think 1) the characters are under-developed 2) the story is stilted and 3) the dialogue is lacking. Problems 1-3 are made more evident by Chabon's overuse of descriptive words, Yiddish words, and especially by the number of times he has one of his characters call anyone and everyone "Yid". People do not talk like that.
