Suspense is a state or feeling of excitement or anxiety from possibly being uncertain about what may happen. My author uses suspense by dragging on certain moments, and not telling what finally happens until later in the book. An example is, "Bryce then picked up the knife, and held it in her hands. But, then the phone rang and it was her mother calling."

I like the part where Clay walks up to the fence at the park and slams his face into it because he was so upset about Hannah's death. He said that he felt to much guilt for her death and there was no way to take it all back.

Foreshadowing means to show or indicate beforehand. An example of the foreshadowing in my book is when she tells about her 13th reason why she committed suicide. She said it was because of Mr. Porter, the high school counselor, who she had hinted her thoughts of suicide to before actually doing so.

My book is written in first person, present tense. The story also contains past tense at times too. A sentence from my book that supports this is, "I glance over my shoulder. Tony’s still there, chewing a french fry and pumping ketchup on a hamburger." Using first person point of view allows the readers to understand how this person really felt at every point in time. It really goes into depth of her feelings.

The protagonist is Clay. He is a sad person that really doesn't have anything to look forward to. I suppose the antagonist would be suicide because that is what the situation is leading to. This helps develops the plot because it helps to show what the story is about.

Some action verbs in my book are words like intensely & severely. These words help me understand how these characters were really feeling. It is almost like I can feel what they are feeling. Sensory details do the same thing. They go in to so much detail, that you get the same feeling they are describing. Colorful modifiers also give great details. If it weren't for these things, the book would be harder to understan

I am reading the book Thirteen Reasons Why, by: Jay Asher. This book is about 13 reasons why a girl commits suicide. I find this interesting because I have always wondered how someone's life could be so bad that they would rather die.
