The main conflict if that Amy Dunne is missing and her husband Nick is on a search for her and the person responsible for her disappearance. It's a man vs. self conflict because Nick is trying to give himself strength to live his life without Amy be his side. There is some man vs. society because everyone suspects that it is Nick who killed her because in movies it's always the husband responsible.

Right now Nick is still on the hunt for his missing wife Amy. Some new suspects have arrived from Amy's old boarding school. Nick is under a lot of suspicion for being the cause of his wife's disappearance. In the last one hundred pages or so we have found out more about Nick and Go's childhood and how they were raised in a broken home.

Gone Girl is written in first person, Nick's perspective. Interspersed throughout the novel are his wife Amy's diary entries. In the book you see internal versus external multiple times on a page. Nick is good at reading people so you can see many sides of the story at once, just through Nick's perspective.

If I could insert myself into the plot of Gone Girl I would be Nick's twin sister Margo. I think the relationship between Nick and Margo is what you would think a classic twin relationship would be. Nick says that he shares more with Margo than anyone else, even his wife Amy. I would add Margo's perspective. It would be interesting to see her insightful perspective of the world.
