Almost done... and I still cannot connect with the characters.

It finally feels like something is happening with the main storyline.

This feels like it's taking forever. I want to enjoy this, but I can't get behind any characters, and I keep getting lost with respect to the references to Jewish faith that are over my head. I still have to frequently stop and look things up.

Constant status updates help keep me motivated to finish this book. It's interesting intellectually, but as a story it's not grabbing me.
