There was a really unnecessary scene with a cat being tortured and killed in chapter 2 that I tried to skim, and I so badly wanted to DNF at that point. We get it, bad people torture and kill animals, and I'm sick of seeing it in fiction as a crutch to get that point across.

I'll keep going for now, but I am far from endeared to this story.
