Ch. 11: The town of Black Mountain seemed like a ghost town to John, only because no one was out and about and most (if not all) the windows were streaked and dirty. Food grew even more scarce, and John had been wrong about cigarettes being currency... It was bullets now, especially .22 and shotgun shells. Casualty' from the fire and the EMP were extremely high; 700 to be exact, 120 of those students and 700 injured.

Ch. 10: In this chapter, John makes it to the mountain where he sees the real damage.. The whole mountainside (North and South of the mountain) was engulfed within the horrific inferno. It seems that the town of Black Mountain is turning on themselves because John's house was somewhere inside the fire, and people are starting to make explosives and plant them to tear down the town in the middle of the crisis.

Continue from last: Most other communities don't know that people are alive, people become selfish. The town of Black Mountain will need to innovate and think deeper, taker extra precautions. If the town doesn't do those things, more people will die, more houses will get broken into, and the town will go into a downward spiral, crashing after 1 1/2 to 2 months, with virtually no one surviving the aftermath of the EMP.

Chapter 7&8: More problems have hit the town of Black Mountain, but people have thought of new ways to innovate, even though they have been set back about 150 years through technology. The towns supply of medications has lowered a lot and people are dying fast! In the town's meeting, they set new rules and gave new jobs for the protection of the society. If this town wants to survive, they will need to think deeper.

The town of Black Mountain is also trying to set up defence perimeters with the bordering town that they are teaming up with. They are both trying to conserve their resources and defend them from outside people. They are trying to defend because other towns are being told that Black Mountain has the most food (they don't), but people are retaliating and still try to get food, so people are getting shot and killed.

Before I start with my response, I was wrong on the pages, it was page 204. 16 days after the EMP hit, the town of Black Mountain is in shock. When John goes to the town meeting, they discuss things with other town leaders and with the bordering town, to see if they can become one and share resources so that they can live longer. John thinks of an anlage of olden times where people traded with each other.
