The hobbit and co. escaped the elven castle via hiding in barrels and floating down the river. They arrived at an enormous lake and saw some people. The dwarves and Bilbo went to say hi to them, rest up, and get ready to defeat the dragon.

WEEKEND HW 10/3/14 I've met Gollem and learned a little about him and his precious. I like Gollem's character because it seems like Tolkein put a lot of work into him. Bilbo found Gollem's ring and escaped his cave system. The book is finally getting easier to read, but I hope that' snot just temporary.

WED The dwarves, gandalf, their ponies, and the hobbit were camping in a cave at the top of the misty mountains. All of a sudden while they were asleep, goblins took them into the mountain, going deeper and deeper. They ate the ponies and took all of their supplies. They don't know what to do or how to get out.

MONDAY'S READING They arrived at the last homely house they'll see on their journey. Basically this is the last civilization they'll see for a long time. They stayed the night there and were back on their feet. Now they're traveling over their first mountain of many.

It's a little slow right now. They started their journey and the days go by in a few sentences. I don't really like the way he rights, though. There's so much description that could be said, but he just objectively puts what is happening. For example there was a fight that could have been cool, but was frankly boring. Though it might just be me as a reader.

WED A bunch of dwarves are planning an adventure in Bilbo's house. They're dragging Bilbo along because they don't want to have 13 people in their group. Bilbo doesn't really want to go on this adventure because hobbits don't like adventure, but part of him is curious.

WED Bilbo Baggins has a bunch of dwarves over and they're planning an adventure. Bilbo is coming along even though he doesn't completely want to. They have a plan and now are off to adventure!

The author uses a lot of parentheses, but I think it's so the reader can understand the characters at first. Bilbo Baggins is a very humble little hobbit and he has an enormous appetite. Gandalf is pretty cool. I like it so far
