So after all that work to GET a torc, it's gone after a few days? And shouldn't that, y'know, kill her with a few hours time? If Aiken turns out to be the titular Nonborn King of the next book in the series, I shall be most displeased. At this point, I just want him dead. In which case there would be a spare gold torc laying around...y'know, if someone just happened to need one.

I'm not really sure how much I like this. Aiken's not NEARLY as dead as I'd like, but Felice SEEMS to be okay. I half don't want to read the next installment, but I kinda want to know what happens next...

So, was Mercy brainwashed by the torc, or is she just bluffing (1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4) or did she actually just fall madly in love with Lord Omnomnom within the space of three weeks that she's been in Exile? Inquiring minds want a POV flashback! And where is Bryon's reaction?! He just met the woman of his dreams AND HER HUSBAND...is that ironic? No. Also, does Aiken Drum now, or has he ever, played upon a ladle?

Has Bryan actually gone this long without realizing that when he finally DOES find Mercy she will already have been repeatedly raped and (most likely) already be pregnant? Is he not living the same book I'm reading? Also, May, stop trying to give Aiken another heal-face turn. I'm in the mood to hate him now, and nothing you ever do is going to stop me from it.

I realize I'm a bit behind on updating, but anyway. At first I pictured Aiken as josh Holloway from Lost. Loveable Chaotic rogue-type. Now he's striking me more as Justin Bieber. Just a young asshole with power, who can't wait to show it off. Hoping Felice kicks his smug ass.

Aaaaand Felice Landry is now officially my favorite character in the book. I like Richard and Stein a lot, but Felice just won me over with her practicality. Problem? SOLVED.

"'Shit!' said the seven eminent scientists." If this prologue is setting The Tone for the rest of the book, then you, my friends, have chosen well.
