The style has transitioned a bit from the epic novel to that of a historical novel with historical digressions on the state of the French and Russian Armies, but nonetheless impressive, and a great pairing to my recent reading of Andrew Robert's Napoleon: A Life.

Simply incredible character development. I can relate to so many characters from the contemplative yet awkward Pierre, energetic yet naive Natasha, to the brave yet disillusioned Andre. Colossal in scope, Tolstoy's novel is much more than an epic of the Napoleonic wars, but rather of the human spirit.
